A traffic stop on I-85 has led to the arrest of a woman in what Upstate sheriff’s office officials are calling a historic bust.
Shale Remien, with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, said it’s one of the largest cocaine busts in the county’s history.

Remien said the bust happened on March 15 along I-85 when deputies pulled over a Nissan SUV.
Inside the vehicle, tucked into the back seat, were duffle bags full of cocaine, she said.
“Deputies got their hands on 40 vacuumed sealed packages which weigh out to be 40 kilograms, or 108 pounds of cocaine,” Remien said.
“Our deputies try to get as many drugs off our streets every day and it carries over onto the interstate,” Sheriff Chad McBride said. “Regardless of whether the final destination of these drugs is Anderson County or our neighboring communities, it always leads to more crime.”
Deputies said Marina Natanova was in charge of transporting the drugs and charged her with trafficking cocaine 400 grams or more and failing to maintain a lane, Remien said.
