CLAVERACK — A Columbia County man who is awaiting trial on multiple felony charges in Columbia, Greene and Dutchess counties, was arrested Monday on felony drug possession charges.
Brad R. Hapeman, 49, of Hudson was charged with two other individuals following a traffic stop in Claverack, according to the state police media blotter.
Hapeman was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor, police said.
Also arrested Monday were Clarence W. Risch, 52, of Hudson, and Diane Collazo, 56, of Catskill, police said.
Risch was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor, and Collazo was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor, and operator impaired by drugs, a class U misdemeanor, police said.
Hapeman was previously arrested in Hudson on Oct. 10 in the area of Columbia and North 3rd Street and charged with possession of 3.1 grams of crack cocaine, Hudson Police Chief L. Edward Moore said.
Hapeman was then charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony.
When Hapeman was arrested in Hudson, he was out on bail following his arrest in June with seven other Columbia County residents as a result of an investigation into catalytic converter thefts.
Hapeman was charged by state police with five counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony, third-degree grand larceny, a class D felony, third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a class D felony, fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony, fifth-degree conspiracy, a class A misdemeanor, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor, criminal use of drug paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor and reckless driving.
Hapeman was also arrested by state police in May and June on drug possession charges, following separate traffic stops in Greenport and Claverack.
Hapeman also faces drug possession charges in Greene County, following three separate traffic stops in Catskill, on Jan. 20, 2022, Oct. 16, 2021, and Oct. 7, 2021.
In addition, Hapeman faces charges following a Nov. 1, 2021, arrest involving a burglary in Red Hook. Both Hapeman and his brother, Scott Hapeman, 50, are accused of breaking into the Red Hook Elks Lodge, causing considerable damage to the building and stealing cash.
