Shortly after, the 21-year-old victim and her mother came across the car near Highway 287 and Yellowstone Road, where 23-year-old Martin Cerda, of the Greeley area, fatally shot the 21-year-old, the report said.
Police said they believe that Cerda fired into the truck in an attempt to carjack the victims, according to 9News.
