A Biloxi man pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess a firearm in a drug trafficking crime.
29-year-old Jamaar Saunders, 29, was the last of eight defendants in a conspiracy originally charged in October 2021.
Saunders will be sentenced January 26, 2023. He faces up to 20 years in prison.
According to court documents the DEA and Gulfport Police began investigating a drug trafficking conspiracy in 2020. The conspiracy was involved in the distribution of oxycodone, marijuana, alprazolam, methamphetamine and fentanyl.
During the investigation, law enforcment learned that in addition to the illegal drugs, members of the conspiracy possessed firearms, both for use and for re-sale.
Law enforcement also learned Saunders was involved in the distribution of the drugs and acquisition of firearms.
The case is part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods program.
