3 more Olongapo villages declared drug-cleared – INQUIRER.net

OLONGAPO CITY — Three more villages in this city were declared drug-cleared by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the local government said Monday, Oct. 24.
New Kababae, West Tapinac, and Kalaklan joined four other barangays that were “free from the illegal drug trade.”

The Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs said an area is declared drug-cleared if authorities validate the absence of drug supply, transit activity, clandestine laboratories, and chemical warehouses.
The absence of marijuana cultivation sites, drug dens, pushers, and users in the area are also the criteria for the declaration.

The city government said Kalalake, West Bajac-Bajac, New Ilalim, and New Asinan were declared drug-cleared and had retained this status.
Olongapo has 17 villages.

Certification for the declaration was given to the village officials during the flag-raising ceremony on Monday. INQ
