FORT MYERS, Fla. — A Fort Myers felon has been sentenced to seven years and eight months in prison for illegally possessing a gun and ammo in his vehicle.
According to officials, on November 16, 2021, officers from the Fort Myers Police Department (FMPD) were making a routine traffic stop when their narcotics-detection dog was alerted to the smell of illegal drugs in the vehicle.
28-year-old Re’Shod Larry was identified as the passenger in the vehicle. Officers searched the car and found a small baggie with cocaine residue on the seat where Larry had been sitting. Officers also found a handgun under Larry’s seat and a magazine loaded with ammo in the passenger side glovebox.
FMPD identified Larry as a convicted felon and matched a palm print from the magazine to Larry. Larry had recently been released from prison for selling fentanyl, officials said.
