A 33-year-old man was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon after he was found under the influence of drugs behind the wheel on Park Drive, according to the Rome Police Department.
Police said they were dispatched to the 100 block of Park Drive around 5 p.m. Tuesday for a possible overdose, and found Alfredo Capoccetta, of Rome, behind the wheel of a vehicle in a parking lot. Police said Capoccetta was in and out of consciousness while they spoke to him.
Capoccetta refused medical attention and field sobriety tests, police said. He was also found to be driving on an improper license, authorities stated.
Capoccetta is charged with one count each of driving while ability impaired by drugs and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, police said. He is scheduled to appear in Rome City Court.
