STEUBENVILLE — A pair of investigations by the Jefferson County Drug Task Force resulted in one arrest and the seizure of “large quantities of illicit drugs,” officials said.
Robert L. Simmons Jr., 28, was taken into custody when police executed a narcotics search warrant Wednesday at 310 Madison Ave., Steubenville. He was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on multiple high-level felony counts charging him with drug trafficking, and authorities say additional charges may be forthcoming.
They also seized 250 grams of suspected fentanyl, 27 grams of cocaine, a gun and about $14,000 in cash.
Steubenville Police and K-9 Puma assisted the search.
In a separate investigation in Steubenville, drug task force detectives and members of the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit seized three pounds of suspected methamphetamine. Authorities said suspects in that case “have yet to be located.”
