FRENCH CREEK — An Upshur County drug investigation led to the seizure of 40 pounds of marijuana, guns and $20,000 in cash, law enforcement officials said.
Officers from the Mountain Lakes Drug Task Force and the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant on Ours Mill Road in French Creek on Oct. 6, according to a press release from the UCSO.
No one was in the residence at that time; however, officers located the suspect — whose name has not yet been released by authorities — during a traffic stop of a 2006 Audi A6 on Sago Road later that day, the release states.
At the home, officers seized more than 40 pounds of marijuana, 54 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, multiple rifles and handguns, packaging material, scales and about $20,000 in U.S. currency, according to the release.
During the traffic stop, officers seized about two pounds of marijuana, packaging material and a loaded firearm in the possession of the suspect, who is a convicted felon, the release states.
The suspect was arrested and charged with transporting controlled substances into the state of West Virginia, and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, according to the release.
Prior to the attempt to execute the search warrrant, two separated UPS packages containing marijuana were intercepted, the release states.
