Newark Man Arrested for Driving While Impaired by Drugs –

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Newark man on October 22nd, 2022 following an investigation into an unsafe driver in the Town of Arcadia on July 17th, 2022.
Deputies arrested Sony A. Adams, age 31, of Old Lyons Road in Newark for Driving While ability impaired by drugs and multiple other vehicle and traffic violations. The charges stem from a complaint of a vehicle traveling all over the road in the Town of Arcadia heading into Lyons. Deputies observed the vehicle crossing the center double solid line multiple times and driving without a passenger side headlight. Upon stopping the vehicle, the driver Sonny Adams stated he had smoked Marijuana after leaving work in the Town of Macedon. Adams was found to be driving alone on a suspended NYS Permit. It was determined that Adams was impaired after completing field sobriety testing road side and an evaluation by a Drug Recognition Expert at the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. Adams submitted to a test of his blood which came back positive for THC and Methadone.
On October 2nd, 2022 Mr. Adams was transported from his residence to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office for processing and released on appearance tickets to Lyons Town Court. He is charged with Driving While ability impaired by Drugs, Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree, No/Inadequate Headlamp and Failure to Keep Right. Deputies were assisted on scene by NYSP.
