Ex-policewoman nabbed for selling illegal drugs – Malaya

A DISMISSED Bicol policewoman was arrested by operatives of the PNP Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG) after selling illegal drugs to a poseur buyer in Camarines Sur, police reported yesterday.
IMEG Director Brig. Gen. Warren De Leon identified the suspect as ex-Corporal Richelle Magalona Mata, a resident of Bato town in Camarines Sur and formerly assigned with the Camarines Sur provincial police office.
Mata was nabbed by operatives of IMEG-Luzon Field Unit Team 5, augmented by other police units and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, in a buy-bust operation last Friday afternoon in Barangay San Rafael, Bato town.
Seized from her were three heat-sealed plastic sachets containing 13 grams of shabu, worth P88,400, and the buy-bust money.
She is detained at the Bato municipal police station while charges of violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared against her.
Mata went on Absent Without Official Leave after testing positive for use of illegal drugs in 2019. Later dismissed from the service, she engaged in the sale of shabu in Bato, Naga City and other areas in Camarines Sur.
De Leon said a “concerned citizen” who thought Mata is still an active member of the PNP helped in gathering information against her, leading to her arrest.
“Due to some PNP personnel pretending to be active even though they are no longer part of the PNP organization, we are continuing to step up our internal cleansing program against active, dismissed, and retired PNP personnel,” said De Leon.
“This is done to ensure that all our past efforts and successes won’t be unraveled. Indeed, we can achieve so many things if we work together,” added De Leon.
