Suspect, 30, suffered non-life-threatening injures and is in stable condition, police chief says
A Milwaukee police officer shot a man Thursday evening who they believe was dealing drugs.
Officers were investigating a narcotics complaint and saw two people they said were involved in a drug deal near 18th Street and Greenfield Avenue, Milwaukee Police Chief Jeffrey Norman said.
Police said one man had a gun in his waistband. Officers approached and the man ran, Norman said.
During the pursuit, an officer shot the man. Norman did not say if the man pulled the gun.
The 30-year-old man suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was in stable condition.
The gun and narcotics were recovered, Norman said.
No one else in the area was injured.
The chief also said the officer is a 30-year-old man who has been on the force for three years.
He has been placed on administrative duty, which is standard operating procedure.
