A bench warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Roland woman facing a felony charge of trafficking in illegal drugs after she was found to be in possession of over 20 grams of methamphetamine following a reported overdose by Roland Police.
Tabitha R. Gleason, 40, was charged May 2 in Sequoyah County District Court and a bench warrant was issued for arrest the same day, according to court records.
Roland Police officer Chris Waters reported on March 18 that he responded to a possible overdose where he found a local firefighter attending to a female suspect. Gleason was reportedly at the residence and claimed the woman might have taken Xanax, according to the probable cause affidavit in the case.
Waters said in a bedroom he saw two baggies in plain view on top of a dresser, which he believed to be narcotics. When he confronted Gleason about the items, she initially claimed she didn’t know they were there. She gave the officer permission to search the residence and then reportedly denied anything else being in the residence.
In a dresser drawer, two more bags containing substances were found containing a white powder and a white powder residue. Gleason claimed the woman that had overdosed was in the room prior and she was in a different room when it happened. Following the search, Gleason was transported to the Roland Police Department for further questioning.
Waters reported the substances weighed a total of approximately 25 grams. He reported Gleason was read her rights and agreed to speak with authorities where she reportedly admitted to knowing the two bags of methamphetamine were on the dresser and to using methamphetamine.
Officers reportedly told Gleason they believed she cleaned up the residence before their arrival but she denied doing so, according to the affidavit.
The substances were sent to the OSBI crime lab for further analysis where it was determined the white substance was determined to be methamphetamine.
