Fentanyl-laced drugs behind the “shadow epidemic” – WPTA 21

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – While much of America has been focused on COVID-19, fentanyl-laced drugs have been hooking and killing people by the thousands.
The drug is a powerful synthetic opioid that is 50 times more powerful than heroin and 100 times more powerful than morphine. In 2021, 82 of the 107 overdose deaths in Allen County were caused by fentanyl.
On Friday’s edition of ABC21 News at 7, Krista Miller spoke with an addiction counselor who is dealing with the effects of the drug on our population. She also spoke with a mother who is part of a group called “Mom of an Addict,” to understand how the drug affects families.
