Ithaca, N.Y. — A man walked up to the pharmacy counter at an Ithaca CVS on Tuesday and demanded drugs from an employee, police said.
At about 3:08 p.m. officers were called to the CVS at 625 West Clinton St. for the reported attempted robbery. Ithaca police Sgt. Thomas W. Condzella said Wednesday in a news release.
The man had a thin build, reddish hair and was wearing a gray Under Armour sweatshirt, with a dark colored backpack, Condzella said.
The man handed the note to the employee and demanded they give him narcotics from behind the pharmacy counter, Condzella said. He also threatened to use a gun against store employees.
The man eventually fled the store in an unknown direction without displaying a weapon and without obtaining any drugs, according to police.
Officers searched the surrounding areas but were unable to find the man.
The investigation is active and Ithaca police ask anyone who has information about the man or the attempted robbery to call them at 607-330-0000 or by email at www.cityofithaca.org/ipdtips. Tips can be made anonymously.
