During the traffic stop, the deputy reportedly saw movement from the backseat passenger and a strong odor of suspected marijuana coming from the interior.
The driver, identified as Christian Kremetz Brown, denied any knowledge of marijuana inside the car. The backseat passenger, identified as Jahmire Jamarris Clark, refused to leave the vehicle and had to be forced out of the car by the deputy.
Inside the vehicle where Clark had been sitting was a Taurus 9 mm handgun. Clark reportedly told police he found the handgun in front of the bushes of Georgia State University.
After conducting a search of the vehicle, the deputy found a Jenning J-22 long rifle handgun, along with a small amount of marijuana, according to the incident report.
Clark reportedly attempted to run into traffic, but was restrained by authorities and had to be forced inside the patrol car, the report stated.
Clark, 19, of Union City, was charged with minor in possession of a firearm and misdemeanor marijuana possession. Brown, 20, of Palmetto, was charged with minor in possession of a firearm and failure to maintain lane.
Both were transported to the Coweta County Jail.
