SEAFORD, Del. – A Laurel man is behind bars on numerous charges after he was found in possession of drugs and a loaded gun Sunday night.
At around 11:30 p.m., officers on routine patrol in the area of 50 S. Market Street observed a silver Cadillac CTS with a window tint violation. Police say the vehicle was being driven by 44-year-old Carlo Munoz-Barreto, who also had active felony warrants out of Delaware State Police. A traffic stop was initiated, and when Munoz-Barreto opened the door, officers saw a handgun inside the driver’s door pocket.
A search of the vehicle was then conducted, resulting in the seizure of 58.1 grams of cocaine, 10 bags of heroin, 519 grams of marijuana, 49 hydrochlorothiazide pills, digital scales, a box of plastic baggies, .22 caliber long rifle ammunition, numerous types of prescription pills, and an extended magazine loaded with 19 bullets. The handgun was also found to be loaded with a total of 12 bullets. Munoz-Barreto was also found in possession of $2,826 in cash.
Munoz-Barreto was arrested on a list of drug charges, in addition to driving a vehicle with improper window tinting. He was held at SCI on a $139,850 cash only bail and issued an unsecured bail for the DSP warrant.
