Five people were arrested Thursday on drug charges after a drug bust at a Marietta residence.
Agents with the Major Crimes Task Force conducted a search warrant at 630 Pearl St. Extension, Marietta.
Agents located Richard Dean Bailey, Shyheim Marquise Terrell Starr, Samantha Jo Kuhn, Shani Lashala Barry, and Derek Allen Harris inside the residence.
During the search, agents located a safe containing a pill bottle with a baggie of suspected methamphetamine. A separate plastic baggie of methamphetamine was located, along with drug scales, and a loaded Ruger LCP .380 firearm.
This portion of drugs was later weighed, totaling 43.51 grams.
Barry was sitting at the kitchen table, where a plate with a debit/credit card and an immeasurable amount of suspected fentanyl was located.
While agents were making entry into the residence, Starr was observed running from a bedroom into the rear of the home.
Agents entered a bathroom where a toilet was being flushed, and detained Starr. He was found to have $1,315 in currency on his person, in small denominations, indicative of drug trafficking.
Further investigation revealed the home had a septic system that was full. Agents traced the sewer pipe to the basement, where they were able to cut the line (with the assistance of Marietta City personnel) and located what appeared to be suspected baggies of drugs in the line stopped by the blockage.
The suspected fentanyl removed from the sewer line was weighed, finding it to weigh 97.36 grams with packaging.
Harris and Kuhn were located in a small bedroom.
A small baggie of suspected methamphetamine was located under the couch where they were sitting. The suspected drugs weighed .73 grams.
Kuhn’s purse contained a plastic baggie with a white powdery substance. This substance was weighed, totaling 4.48 grams.
As a result of the investigation, the following arrests were made.
Shani Barry, 30, of 1029 Lawton St., Akron, was charged with possession of drugs, a felony of the fifth degree.
Derek Harris, 33, of 151 Chateau Hills, Parkersburg, was charged with possession of drugs, a felony of the fifth degree.
