Supplier of cocaine, crack to drug dealers in Syracuse area gets 15 years in prison, feds say – syracuse.com

Syracuse, N.Y. — A Madison County man who supplied cocaine and crack cocaine to drug dealers and users in the Syracuse area was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Wednesday, federal prosecutors said.
Ernest Shaw Sr., of New Woodstock, was found guilty by a jury in September of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute the illegal drugs, according to a news release issued by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of New York.
Evidence from the jury trial proved Shaw conspired with others from September of 2017 to Sept. 25, 2019, federal prosecutors said.
Jurors unanimously found that Shaw’s part in the conspiracy directly involved more than 5 kilograms of cocaine and 28 grams of crack.
The evidence included the seizure of over 171 grams of powder cocaine and over 80 grams of crack cocaine from a stash house in Nedrow, federal prosecutors said. Shaw used the house to store the drugs before distributing them to drug dealers and drug users in the Syracuse area, according to prosecutors.
Shaw was also sentenced to serve 10 years of supervised release after he gets out of prison, federal prosecutors said.
He was also ordered to forfeit $36,335 in cash seized as drug proceeds by the DEA during the execution of a search warrant on Sept. 25, 2019 at his home in New Woodstock.
Shaw will also have to pay a forfeiture money judgment in the amount of $105,000 for unrecovered proceeds he earned during the drug conspiracy.
Shaw was previously convicted in March of 2007 of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine, federal prosecutors said. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to serve 41 months in federal prison in that previous case.
