BRISTOL – A city man found with 80 bags of suspected heroin or Fentanyl and crack cocaine has been sentenced to more than a year in prison.
Christopher Deutsch, 34, of 152 Greene St., faced sentencing on Friday in New Britain Superior Court, where he was ordered to serve 15 months in prison.
The prison sentence will be followed by three years of probation, during which time a violation would expose the 34-year-old to nearly four additional years behind bars.
Deutsch’s sentencing on Friday comes after he took a plea deal in December, pleading guilty to one felony count of possession with intent to sell narcotics. In exchange for his plea, two counts of sale of narcotics and one count each of sale of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school and possession of narcotics were not pursued.
The charge Deutsch pleaded guilty stemmed from an arrest in late 2019, when he was found with multiple types of drugs.
Police arrested Deutsch on Dec. 12, 2019, as he was wanted in connection with two warrants alleging he sold narcotics.
Upon searching Deutsch when he was arrested around 6:26 p.m., detectives from the Narcotics Enforcement Team found 80 bags of suspected heroin or Fentanyl and crack cocaine. Because the drugs that appeared to be heroin or Fentanyl, they were not tested by police in the field given the dangers Fentanyl can present if it were to accidentally come into contact with skin or become airborne.
Police said all the drugs that were discovered were packaged for sale. They were sent to a lab to be tested.
