Drugs bound for Milbridge seized – The Ellsworth American

MILBRIDGE — Police seized $40,000 worth of fentanyl and cocaine and charged two men Monday in connection with the importing of drugs from out of state to a residence here, according to a press release from Maine Drug Enforcement Agency Commander Peter Arno.
Agents, with the help of Maine State Police, arrested Rasheib Edward Yancy, 45, of Billerica, Mass., on a charge of aggravated drug trafficking (fentanyl and cocaine). Arno said Yancy’s charge was aggravated due to the quantity of drugs he was allegedly importing into the state.
Police stopped Yancy on I-95 in the Penobscot County town of Newport and searched his vehicle.
“Yancy is the suspected source of supply of the drugs going to the Milbridge residence,” Arno said. “Following the execution of a search warrant on Yancy’s car, agents located approximately 103 grams of fentanyl and 143 grams of cocaine. The combined Washington County street value of the drugs seized is approximately $40,000.”
A bail commissioner set Yancy’s bail at $100,000 cash. It is anticipated that Yancy will face the additional charge of illegal importation of Schedule W drugs, a Class B felony, at the time of his initial appearance, the commander said.
“Following Yancy’s arrest, MDEA agents executed a search warrant on the Milbridge residence of Cole Kennedy, 36,” said Arno. “During the investigation it was determined that this was the residence from which the drugs, brought to Maine by Yancy, were being distributed.”
Agents located approximately $3,200 in suspected drug proceeds.
Kennedy was taken to the Washington County Jail, where he was charged with violating conditions of his release. Kennedy currently has bail conditions for a 2021 drug trafficking offense, the officer said.
The MDEA was assisted in the investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the Maine State Police, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Billerica, Mass., Police Department.
“This investigation is continuing, and more arrests are possible,” Arno said. “Washington County has seen a marked increase in violence, which is inseparably linked to the sale of illicit drugs. MDEA is committed to working with all law enforcement partners and the community to help mitigate this activity.”
