STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A Fort Wadsworth woman expressed concern about what the neighbors would think when police raided her home and found a gun and crack cocaine stored in a safe, authorities allege.
Rose Canale, 29, and Wilfredo Figueroa, 34, were arrested after officers swarmed their home on Bridge Court on Feb. 8 around 8 a.m., according to the criminal complaint and police.
“My neighbors are going to see this,” the complaint quotes Canale as saying to police. “It’s embarrassing.”
Inside a safe in a bedroom closet, police found a .38-caliber revolver loaded with six bullets; 10 rounds in .38, 9 mm and .380 calibers; $675 in cash, and a clear plastic bag containing crack cocaine, the complaint alleges.
In the same closet, police allege they found .22-caliber bullets, including 35 stashed in a clear, plastic glove.
On top of a dresser, cops recovered a plastic bag holding 11 pills of MDMA, a potent form of Ecstasy, and a scale with cocaine residue, the complaint alleges.
The defendants have been charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal use of drug paraphernalia, and unlawful possession of a pistol or revolver ammunition.
Both are due in state Supreme Court, St. George, on March 25, according to public records.
Figueroa was convicted of attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree in Criminal Court in May 2011, according to the criminal complaint.
Attorney Yan Katsnelson, who is representing Figueroa, declined to comment.
Gregory Esposito, the defense lawyer representing Canale, also declined to comment.
