One dead, another wounded in East Bay shooting – East Bay Times

OAKLEY — A shooting has left one man dead at a house on the 1400 block of Carpenter Road in Oakley on Wednesday.
Oakley police were called to the house, which is near Brown Road, after Contra Costa County sheriff’s deputies arrived around 8:30 a.m. to serve an unrelated search warrant for illegal drugs and weapons. When they went into the home, they found a dead man, another one slightly wounded and a woman, who was not injured, according to officials.
Oakley Police Chief Paul Beard said what officers discovered “was suspicious in nature,” so they took the two people into custody for questioning.

“I would characterize it as a detention while we try to figure out what’s going on,” he said.
Beard said police were not involved in the shooting, but rather “it was just the collision or intersecting of two weird events.” He did not know what time the shooting occurred.
Police are investigating the shooting, but Beard said there is “no manhunt, just a hunt for information.”
The Oakley Police Department has requested the Office of the Sheriff handle this investigation.
