SEMINOLE, FL — A woman was arrested in the early morning hours Friday after Pinellas County sheriff’s deputies said she passed out behind the wheel of her car with her three young children in the back seat.
Deputies responded after receiving multiple calls around 2:30 a.m. reporting that a woman was passed out in her parked car for two hours in the 8800 block of Park Boulevard.
Pinellas sheriff’s public information officer, Felisha Barnes, said deputies found Audra Nelson, 39, passed out behind the wheel of the car with her three children, ages 6, 4 and 3, in the back seat of the car.
Deputies said they saw signs indicating Nelson was impaired and conducted a field sobriety test, which she failed.
They also found about a half gram of methamphetamine and two Xanax pills that she didn’t have a prescription for in her purse.
Nelson was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, child neglect and possession of alprazolam and methamphetamine.
