Two people were arrested after they allegedly attempted to use a child to sneak drugs into the Blair County Prison, court documents stated.
Jason Paul Neil, 39, and Michele Sterling Loyd, 29, both of Hollidaysburg, were arraigned Thursday by Magisterial District Judge Paula M. Aigner for 12 felony charges each in relation to an incident Wednesday at the prison.
According to a police report, Neil is accused of conspiring with Loyd to get drugs into the prison during visitations.
Court documents state the pair planned for Loyd to plant the drugs on a child to bring into the prison for Neil, who was an inmate.
After discovering about Neil and Loyd’s alleged plan, police, prison officials and Children. Youth & Families conducted an operation in an attempt to intercept the drugs.
Officials said the child was searched prior to the visitation, and as a result, police allegedly found seven Suboxone strips in the child’s pants.
Neil and Loyd were each arraigned on 12 felony charges, with counts of criminal conspiracy of drug possession with intent to deliver, endangering the welfare of children, contraband, possession of a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication facility.
They were remanded to Blair County Prison in lieu of $100,000 cash bail and are scheduled to appear March 8 before Aigner for preliminary hearings.
