More charges have been lodged against accused drug dealer and Lycoming County Prison inmate Michael Powell, according to court records filed by the county’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU) at the office of District Judge Christian Frey.
When he was taken into custody on arrest warrants at an apartment at 1411 W. Fourth St. on Jan. 10, Powell had in his possession an ounce of fentanyl, investigators alleged in an affidavit. He was recently arraigned from his jail cell on one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance stemming from what he was carrying when he was arrested.
The narcotics unit has also charged Powell, 26, of Philadelphia, formerly of the 300 block of Broad Street, Montoursville, with delivery of a controlled substance and illegal use of cellphone, both felonies, for allegedly selling 2.5 grams of crack cocaine to an informant for $160 at Linn and Diamond streets in the city on Dec. 8. He was recommitted in lieu of $75,000 bail in these two cases. Some previous articles on Powell incorrectly identified his age.
In another NEU case, Jowon L. Keyes, 28, of 685 Second Ave., has been charged with two counts each of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and conspiracy for allegedly having 111 bags of fentanyl and 17 grams of cocaine at Seventh Avenue and High Street in the city last April 19, court records stated. He remains jailed in lieu of $75,000 bail.
