Funding Available in Southern Tier for Drugs to Jobs Programs – wnbf.com

New York State is offering grant money for programs in the Southern Tier to get people off drugs and into jobs.
The New York Department of State has announced $10-million is available for Southern Tier counties to expand substance abuse recovery systems that lead to employment, which has been shown to help in success rates.
Governments, institutes of higher educations and public or private non-profit organizations can apply for INSPIRE initiative grant money by submitting Letters of Intent by March 3. Final applications are due by 5 p-m March 24.
Applications should demonstrate the potential for people in recovery to obtain and maintain stable employment with a focus on a strong recovery support system.  Proposals can also include programs coordinating recovery and training services.
Officials say programs must be focused in the Appalachin Region that includes 14 counties in New York.  The “Southern Tier Eight” district consists of Broome, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Tioga, Tompkins, Otsego and Schoharie Counties.
