Fourteen people face conspiracy charges after a four-week probe into drug dealing in the Phillipsburg area led to the execution of a search warrant Saturday in town, authorities said Tuesday.
The Warren County Prosecutor’s Office announced the arrests following the search at 81 Broad St. in town. Numerous police officers assisted with the operation there Saturday night, according to a report from the scene.
The prosecutor’s office in a news release said it was assisted by New Jersey State and Phillipsburg police in executing the warrant and recovering:
Two juveniles present were released to their parents, with the following people each charged with one count of second-degree conspiracy/unlawful possession of weapons (handgun) and third-degree conspiracy to possess a controlled dangerous substance, the prosecutor’s office said:
Wilson, Scott, Chiappa, Thuo, Smith, Essington and Allison were released Sunday pending a future court appearance, according to the release. The prosecutor’s office filed motions to detain the remaining suspects — Lopez, McBride, Carlton, Douglas, Jean-Jacques, Fabian and Ford — in Warren County jail until hearings can be held in coming days.
Court records did not list attorneys for the suspects.
Upon conviction, each second-degree charge carries up to 10 years in state prison, with each third-degree charge punishable by up to five years in state prison, according to the release
“This is an ongoing investigation and it is anticipated that additional charges will be filed in the coming days,” Prosecutor James Pfeiffer stated.
