Gardai carried out searches of houses and forestry lands

A person was arrested in Sligo on Sunday in connection with the ongoing garda investigation into an Organised Criminal Gang based out of Sligo.
Gardaí said the person was detained at Sligo Garda Station on Sunday under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.
They say their investigation is continuing.
On Thursday, gardaí in Sligo carried out a number of searches in a day of action against Organised Criminal Gangs.
A number of houses and forestry lands were searched.
Gardaí said in total, there was approximately €60,000 in illegal drugs seized and taken off the streets of Sligo and surrounding communities.

The drugs included suspected heroin, cocaine and cannabis.
Gardaí said this was part of an ongoing strategy to combat the sale and supply of illegal drugs.
